After February half term, we will be offering dedicated reading sessions for school children at the library.

We are delighted to share details of a new initiative at Thimblemill Library to support local schools and celebrate the National Year of Reading.

During these sessions, children are invited to bring along their school reading books. Members of our library staff will listen to the children read and sign their reading diaries, helping to reinforce the fantastic work already taking place in school.

These sessions are designed to encourage a love of reading, build confidence, and provide additional positive reading experiences in a relaxed and supportive environment.

We strongly value the importance of positive links between the library and local schools, and we believe that by working together we can continue to promote strong literacy skills and a lifelong enjoyment of reading.

The poster will give a link to a system called safelincs, this is a short questionnaire to determine if the person meets the criteria and if so they can book a home visit at their convenience from ourselves to complete a safety check of the property. This visit will include us give advice on a number of things such as electrical safety, fire safety, cooking safety, to name but a few items discussed and of course to check their smoke alarms and put any required up, all for free.

The check takes only about 15-20 minutes and will be attended by a full crew on a fire appliance.
