Big Cat e-readers
We are super pleased to have received some lovely feedback from some of our parents and carers this week as regards the first week of our Big Cat Collins e-readers being re-launched! We are thrilled that you are enjoying sharing the books with your children and that they are enjoying the wider range of reading material available. We are also pleased to announce that e-readers are now available to our Nursery children as of today in a range of picture books and early readers. Nursery will be bringing a parent guide home today with details of how to access the resource as well as each child's individual log on details. Thank you for your continued support.
Whole school Reading newsletters
Due to the success of our Key Stage 2 reading newsletter, we are delighted to announce that we are rolling this initiative out whole school by introducing Reading newsletters for Early Years and Key Stage 1. The newsletters are packed full with useful tips on how you can support your child with reading at home, book recommendations, links to useful websites, author spotlights and details on national events to celebrate and promote reading. These newsletters will be updated once a term to begin with and can all be found on our school website under the 'class pages' tab. Please take a look, we think the children and yourselves will love them!
One-way system around school
I’m sure you’ll be pleased to hear that the one-way system arounds school has now ended. You can use both entrances to enter and exit the premises. All gates will be open so if you have a pushchair you will be able to go through the early years playground to avoid using the steps.
COVID-19 – reminder of changes
-
If your child develops any of the main symptoms (temperature, cough or loss of smell or taste) they will must go and get a PCR test not a LFT.
-
From Tuesday 11th January 2022 if you test positive on a routine LFT you no longer need to get a PCR test to confirm the result.
-
If your child tests positive on a Lateral Flow Test or a PCR test they will have to isolate. On day 6 and day 7 (taken 2hrs apart) they can take an LFT, if both of these tests are negative then the pupil can return to school on day 8. If the LFT is positive then they will have to isolate for the full 10 days, returning to school on day 11 – providing they are well enough.
-
If your child is a close contact we will contact you directly to inform you.
-
If your child is considered to be a close contact of someone who has tested positive in school they will not be required to self-isolate but are strongly advised to take an LFD test every day for 7 days, or until 10 days since your last contact with the person who tested positive for COVID-19 if this is earlier. The test must be taken in a morning before they come to school.
What to do if your child is absent from school due to COVID
If your child is isolating and they are well in themselves they will be required to log into Teams where they will be able to join their classroom virtually and access everything the pupils in school are doing. Log ins remain the same from last year. If you need your log ins please contact the office and arrangements will be made to give you the information you need. If your child is ill we do not expect them to join in with the online learning until they are well enough to do so.
Reporting your child absent
If your child is going to absent from school for any reason, please call the school absence line 0121 429 4284 option 1 and leave a message stating childs name class and detailed reason for their absence, this needs to be done for each day of absence. If your child has a medical appointment, please profide proof to the office.
School meals
Currently cost £2.40 daily and must be paid online via ParentPay BEFORE meals are taken. The school does not cook meals on site and, therefore, all dinners must be ordered by 9:15am.
