Food Bank Support

18th Mar 2020

Smethwick Food Bank Details

Foodbank opening times are 1-3pm Tuesday Wednesday  and Friday at Holy Trinity Church.  No one will be admitted to the Foodbank outside of these times.

Visitors to Foodbank must wash their hands on entering and leaving the building.

If clients have any symptoms – persistent cough, shortness of breath, high temperature – or have been out of the UK in the last 14 days, they MUST NOT attend Foodbank.  Someone else should collect their food parcel on their behalf.

If clients are in a high risk group, a carer, or feel vulnerable or worried about contracting the virus, they should not attend the Foodbank.  Their safety and peace of mind is our priority.

Because of a reduction in volunteer numbers, we will be supplying pre-packed emergency food boxes; clients will receive approximately the same amount of food, and it will allow us to speed up the amount of time clients will need to wait for.  Food will be non-transferrable.

We are currently unable to offer refreshments; clients must leave the Foodbank as soon as they have received their food parcel.

Clients must bring their own bags / a shopping trolley in which to carry their food home.

No fuel vouchers are currently being issued; if clients require a fuel voucher, please direct them to local welfare provision or to the online service offered by South Staffs and Severn Trent Water.

Vouchers can also be applied for online at mysandwell.gov.

Despite all of our measures, there may still be longer waiting times than normal.  Please could we ask for patience and understanding as we would like to be able to run as close to a normal service as possible, for as long as possible.

Please keep a check on our website and social media pages for other updates.
